...amongst other things.
I also build websites and design things that can be printed. But more on that later.
I grew up in the wilds of the Outer Hebrides, spent my teenage years in rural Suffolk and studied Biology at university in urban Nottingham. I am currently studying for a Masters in Biological Photography and Imaging at the University of Nottingham, the same place that I graduated from last year.
My background leads me to try to blend the artistic and the scientific, creating images that are not only visually pleasing but that also try to inform and inspire. Both the science and art of photography spark off of each other and I try to mix this with my knowledge of biology, plants and animals.
When digitally postprocessing my photos I use Adobe Lightroom to perform any minor tweaks and any other small improvements. Anything out of the ordinary that demands more can be carried out in Photoshop. Being extremely competent in with both camera and post-processing techniques, I can produce images that require minimal changes as well as images that require more intensive manipulation.
I am also proficient in using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, with a sound working knowledge of colour, typefaces, layout and illustration. I have a high degree of capability with XHTML and CSS, using them to create websites using any program from Dreamweaver to Notepad. I can also shoot video footage and edit it using Final Cut Express.
If you would like some more information please take a look at my CV, send me an email or give me a voicemail.
